Dr. Mayra Figueroa-Pérez is currently the Chancellor of the Hato Rey Campus at EDP University of Puerto Rico. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Arts in Elementary Education with a concentration in Special Education. At the graduate level, completed a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus, and a Doctoral degree in Education with a specialization in Guidance and Counseling at the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico, Metropolitan Campus. She holds the Clinical Competence Certification (CCC) granted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and a Certification in Educational Therapy.

Has worked for more than 30 years in the administration of health education programs in different higher education institutions in Puerto Rico. Her experience includes being a consultant for developing academic programs and writing state and federal proposals for health professional training and implementation of health services projects.

Her research interests are focused on higher education issues and those related to her expertise in language development and disorders and counseling and supervision in the Speech-Language Pathology field. Has published articles in local journals and chapters in books in Europe and Central/South America. Has made presentations in local, national, and international forums in different thematic areas.
