Nannette Martinez taught herself to code at 15 on her family’s home computer. She completed her bachelor’s degree at Tufts University, combining all the core Computer Science program courses, such as data structures and object-oriented programming, with real-life application classes, such as Economics, Sociology, and Psychology of Perception.

She began her career in 2004 developing websites for ad agencies and continued to transform clients’ business needs with digital solutions for various industries, including telecommunications, pharma, finance, and economic development. In 2016, she launched a software-as-a-service (SaaS) business for local retailers, integrating an innovative inventory management platform with payment methods relevant to the local market. During this time, she was active in the San Juan entrepreneurial ecosystem, participating in several startup programs offered by organizations such as Founder Institute, Parallel18, Grupo Guayacan, and Startup Grind, in which she was appointed Chapter Director.

In 2021, Martinez was named Chief Technology Officer of the Government of Puerto Rico. Working from the Puerto Rico Innovation and Technology Service (PRITS) as Deputy Executive Director, she took a strategic approach to improving and seeking efficiencies in technology resources and infrastructure for entities under the Executive Branch. She is now acting Chief Innovation and Information Officer, Interim Executive Director of PRITS, and proud mother of two children aged 8 and 10.
